The end of the regular season is here and a lot can still happen , but here is how we see it right now . Since we still don't even know who's coming out , there is the playoffs , and a whole bunch of other crap to go.So don't get too excited just yet .The playoff teams haven't even locked in their draft spots right now . Next to each prospect is the NFL player that he reminds us of at their best ,if he should reach his potential. Comparisons are for on the field only.
.KC-GENO SMITH-QB-W.VA-NFL COMP-WARREN MOON-HOF RET.-Ignore the RG3 comparisons. He's not that type of an athlete. He is a good athlete for a QB though, but not the elite runner that Griffin is. He's mobile but always is looking to throw first. Not an elite franchise QB prospect like Luck or RG3 but the best in this class. . If your KC or AZ he'a a lot better than what you have. Considering the strength of KC's O-line he could have a great rookie year if he is lucky enough to end up there. Strong arm accuracy when he's set, doesn't throw picks, and clean off the field., Needs work on mechanics , handling the blitz, and adjustments right now. Also needs to add weight and learn a pro system. As long as he is at least 6"2" and 220 lbs when he's measured this makes sense, and we think he's taller now, and will add the weight by then. The hiring of QB guru Andy Reid makes it even more likely.
.JAX-STAR LOTULELEI-DT-UTAH-NFL COMP-HALOTI NGATA-BALT-Thier run defense up the middle is bad right and this guy clogs the middle by just breathing . They have Mincey and Babin on the outside now, so that should improve their pass rush . Star can also push the pocket and improve the overall rush.
.OAK-BJOERN WERNER-DE-FLA ST.-NFL COMP-DERRICK MORGAN-TENN-Pass rush is a weakness especially on the outside where they have some DT size guys coming off the edge.He has a high floor and the new raider regime needs that.
.PHIL-LUKE JOECKEL-OT-TEX A&M-NFL COMP-JOE THOMAS-CLEV-A massive amount of O-line injuries wrecked their season last year. Peters will be back and they can move Hereman back inside if they can get someone else on the outside. They need a CB too, so Milliner is a possibility.
.DET-DeMARCUS MILLINER-CB-ALA-CHARLES TILLMAN-CHI-They have had crappy CB play for years and only improved one last year with Chris Houston, and he is now a free agent . If the coach and GM want to keep their jobs they should get CB help right now.
.CLEV-CHANCE WARMACK-G-ALA-NFL COMP-JAHRI EVANS-NO- Their O-line is a plus pass blocking and even alright run blocking, except for LG. Warmack has the drafts highest floor and since they drafted a RB and QB in the first round last year they might as well protect them.
.AZ-TAYLOR LEWAN-OT-MICH-NFL COMP-MICHAEL ROOS-TENN-With an O-line that was bad in a biblical way last season and no QB worth the pick, the top rated OT available when they pick should be a lock. He will not only be their best lineman when he shows up ,but would also allow the returning from injury Levi Brown to move inside where he belongs.
.BUFF-DAMONTRE MOORE-DE/OLB-TEX A&M-NFL COMP-JOHN ABRAHAM-ATL-Mark Anderson was hurt a lot this season. Add this guy to a healthy Williams bros and they would have the leagues best front four with a perfect blend of youth and veterans up front.
.JETS-KENNY VACCARO-S-TEX-NFL COMP-KERRY RHODES-AZ-Laron Landry is a free agent and injury prone. This guy can play either safety spot and inject some youth into their secondary. The jets play so much man that safety play is essential.
-TENN-JARVIS JONES-OLB/DE-GA-NFL COMP-CLAY MATHEWS-GB-They need speed coming off the edge from the blindside. Morgan is more of a strongside guy and Wembley is too inconsistent and lacks an elite get off. Jones has elite tools, and while we think he would be overdrafted based on his production on tape , this team has drafted toolsy guys lately.
.SD-JAKE MATHEWS-OT-TEX A&M-NFL COMP-MATT LIGHT-NE-(RET)-Another BAD O-line . 2 years ago the left side of their line was elite with Dielman and McNeil . 2 injury retirements later Phillip Rivers is a wreck. This son of a hall of famer graded out well in all 7 games I watched him in this year, and could probably play the blindside just as well
.MIAMI-*KEENAN ALLEN-WR-CAL-NFL COMP-TERRELL OWENS-They need a number one WR. This guy looked great even with bad QB play and constant double teams. It also allows Hartline to be a possesion receiver and makes Tannehill's life easier.
.TB-JOHNTHAN BANKS-CB-MISS ST-NFL COMP-RICHARD SHERMAN-SEA-Definitely a bit high but they traded their best CB last year and they need another big corner now.
.CAR-SYLVESTER WILLIAMS-DT-NC-NFL COMP-MARCELL DAREUS-BUF-Carolina not only has bad run defense , but also needs leadership and toughness up the gut. This local guy is a huge mature beast of a man who gives them all of that.
.NO-SHELDON RICHARDSON-DT-MOU-NFL COM-CULLEN JENKINS-PHIL-The saints interior pass rush needs some work and Sedrick Ellis is a FA to boot. This is the drafts best declared interior pass rusher so far.
.STL-JOHNATHAN COOPER-G-N.CAR-NFL COMP-ANDY LEVITRE-BUFF- I am certain Jeff Fisher is sick of seeing Sam Bradford be hit and rushed. Their left guards are the biggest culprits and Cooper could also play center if needed.
.PITT-MANTI TE'O-LB-N.DAME-NFL COMP-NAVARRO BOWMAN-SF- Larry Foote was the a liabilty last season. Te'o gives them another 3 down LB to go with Timmons, and adds some young leadership to an aging defense.
.DALL-ERIC FISHER-OT-C.MICH-NFL COMP-JOE STALEY-SF-Right tackle Doug Free's great 2010 contract year is well behind him, and Jeremy Parnell probably isn't the answer. They were both just just bad this year. With Dallas fans sick of seeing Romo run for his life, this guy could help immediately. He dominated small school competion and played real well against his few big school opponents. If he wows at the senior bowl a top 10 pick isn't out of the question. It's safe to say Warmack or Cooper would be in play if they fell too.
.ODAY OBOUSHI-OT-VA-NFL COMP-DONALD PENN-TB-Right tackle has been a problem since Kareem Mckenzie left. David Diehl is past it and Oboushi could join with Beatty to provide long term bookends to help out Eli.
.CHI-#ALEC OGLETREE-LB-GA-NFL COMP-LAWRENCE TIMMONS-PITTS-Urlacher and Briggs are long in the tooth. With there being no O-lineman worth this pick right now, they take a great player at a position of need. If Lane Johnson or some other young O-lineman shows well in the pre-draft process expect him to be considered.
.CINC-TAVON AUSTIN-WR-W.VA-NFL COMP-PERCY HARVIN-MINN-This mans lightning in a bottle on the field. Running, catching, and returning are all in the toolbox. Explosive and would take some pressure of Dalton to Green.
.RAMS(wash)-ROBERT WOODS-WR-USC -NFL COMP-REGGIE WAYNE-INDY-The rams have a lot of young WR talent, but Amendola is the only one with any polish and he is often injured. Woods is polished , fearless, and will give Bradford a reliable target.
.MINN-CORDARELLE PATTERSON-WR-TENN-DEZ BRYANT-DALL- They need anyone who can take attention away from Adrian. Percy Harvin is probably going to to be traded unless he as an attitude adjustment, and with his injury and attitude history they should get what they can now anyway. This guy can run block too and you need that on this team.
.INDY-LOGAN RYAN-CB-RUTG-NFL COMP-RONDE BARBER-TB-Probably the 3rd best CB and they need CB help badly. If he runs well it's even more likely and need will likely push him up draft boards either way . If a good O-lineman rises or one falls who shouldn't that should come first. Luck got hit constantly all season. They are a candidiate to trade up for a lineman if they don't adress it in free agancy.
.BALT-DION JORDAN-DE/OLB-ORE-NFL COMP-JEVON JEARSE-RET- I am sure Ozzie Newsome would love for Te'o or Ogletree to fall this far and replace the soon to be departing Ray Lewis . I doubt that happens and Oziie likes value, so the best player available it is.
,Suggs isn't the player he was as a pass rusher due to age and injuries anyway.
.SEA-SAM MONTGOMERY-DE/OLB-LSU-NFL COMP-ANTHONY SPENCER-DALL-Chris Clemmons is not only 11 years in, but he just hurt his knee this weekend. Bruce Irvin is more of an undersized pass rushing specialist, so they need an every down guy on the outside. Montgomery is more versatile and has the frame to bulk up and play the strong side.
.GB-ZACH ERTZ-TE-STAN-NFL COMP-KYLE RUDOLPH-MINN- The ubertalented but usually dissapointing Jermichale Finley will probably be gone this year in free agency. Ertz is consistent as a receiver ,and depsite not being a great blocker right now the effort is there. He is already a much better blocker than Finley will ever be .They need some O-line help, but I don't have any graded high enough yet in this scenario. Both starting OT's will return from injury as well.
.SF-BARRET JONES-C/G/T/-ALA-NFL COMP-MAX UNGER-SEA-Not a lot of needs with 49ers, but this fills one. elite in any area and I don't even grade him this high. He's just a grinder who gets it done somehow He isn't He can back up every O-line position even if they are able to keep all 5 starters this off season, and gives them leverage in any contract negotiation. They could also go best player available ,or look to inject some youth into their D-line.
29. HOU-JHONATHON HANKINS-DT-OH ST.-KEVIN WILLIAMS-MINN-Nose tackle is their largest weakness. This guy could very easily go a lot higher, but his motor is too inconsistent for me right now. He can be a 3 down NT if he works at it though.
.NE-*JUSTIN HUNTER-WR-TENN-NFL COMP-SIDNEY RICE-SEA-Its probably more likely they trade this pick to someone wanting to grab Wilson,Barkley or Glennon late in the first, but they need a young #1 WR who can play outside. They may not pay Welker, but at least they have Eidelman in the slot as a possible replacement. Lloyd is older and not very physical. Hunter was a possible top 10 pick before injuries hit him , and he could end up the 1rst WR picked if he applies himself before the combine.
.ATL-EZEKIAL ANSAH-DE-BYU-NFL COMP-JASON PIERRE-PAUL-NYG-John Abraham is getting up there and they need an eventual replacement who can play other positions till he is done. This man has the freakish size and athleticism to play either DE spot and slide inside on 3rd down.
.DEN-JESSIE WILLIAMS-DT-ALA-NFL COMP-VINCE WILFORK-NE- This guy is big, strong, and raw. I expect him to test well and move up draft boards. The Australian import hasn't been playing football that long, but he plays the run like a NFL NT right now. He is so athletic that he lines up at FB for Alabama as well. With some refinement on his pass rush moves he can be a 3 down NT.
Warmack will probably fall to Dallas.
ReplyDeleteIf he does every cowboy fan on the planet should rejoice
