2025 NFL MOCK 2/21/25

I made a lot of tape progress this week with no live Football to watch, and so there will be more players moved around. Plus there are some whispers and leaks about players injuries that have made me shuffle some rankings. With the season complete everything in the NFL world is focused on free agency  and the draft. I am about three fourths of the way done with my full team write-ups while grinding through more tape.   Currently I have broken down the film on one game for 327 players.  Plus I have done 3 games on 230 players , but only 5 or more games on 121. Pretty soon some unheralded players will blow up the combine , and private workouts , and we will all be doing a deeper dive on them. Keep in mind that we have only have a partial idea of what teams will need on draft day because of injuries, free agency, retirements , the cap, suspensions , trades , etcetera. Not to mention that some more injury & character concerns usually leak out during & after the combine. Plus the transfer portal & NIL money has drastically changed the face of college football ,  and more guys are wisely staying in school , although that means the lower rounds of the draft will usually have less upside these days.  On the bright side more players who enter the league should be better prepared than in the past , and also more importantly have a degree if they don't stick in the NFL. Another significant difference between this draft and other recent ones is that everybody currently still has their own number one pick.  That probably means 1 or 2 trades will happen in 2025 for a QB , but I wouldn't trade up into ( or draft ) any of them in the top 10. I just finished doing a deeper dive on 2024 eligible QB's , and I still don't have a 1rst round grade on any of them. Any team wanting to win now might be better served by going after a veteran option.  Russell Wilson , Kirk Cousins , and either Sam Darnold or JJ McCarthy should be available.  If I was a NFL GM who wanted to win I would rather have any of them ( but Mccarthy ) starting for my team next year than any of the potential 2025 draftable QB's , especially Wilson.  Also, Aaron Rodgers may decide to keep playing , and if he's committed he may be even better than Russell next season. So you can see we still have a lot of work to do on these players. To me it's a weird draft so far with very few high ceiling guys that also have a high floor, but it is a deep draft in the 2nd thru 4th rounds. Plus the deepest positions I now see as far as good potential starters on the first 2 days of the draft are RB , edge rusher , and TE.  With the exception of edge rusher , which is a premium position , the other 2 positions  have been undervalued most by the NFL. In fact I expect edge to have both the most 1rst round picks , and top 50 selections in this draft for any position. In fact if you count Jalon Walker as a edge rusher then their could be as many as 20 edge rushers drafted in the first 2 rounds.  Although CB & DT have decent strength early , although DT seems to have too many high ceiling boom or bust prospects who's production doesn't match their talent , but there are a whole lot of talented guys there. A lot of the top OT's will be seen as a better fit inside  , but I expect a LOT of O-Lineman to be drafted in the first 75 picks anyway. I'm going to avoid expensive QB trade ups this time, because even taking any of these guys in the top 10 is a big risk on my board , and I expect a trade up into the top 10 this year will cost less if a team does move up for a signal caller. Personally the only player I would definitely trade up into the top 10 for is Abdul Carter. Although if I was assured that Travis Hunter would happily play both sides of the ball with me choosing his playing time ( 70% offense, and 30% defense on passing downs only) I might make the trade up for him as well. The picks are all mine if you want to be mad at someone , but this is NOT my top prospects list , but instead what I believe NFL teams will do.  A lot of trades will probably happen, but I expect it to happen more on day 2. Without further ado here it is. Agreeing or disagreeing is welcome, but please do it intelligently & respectfully or I just won't post it. so here it is. Enjoy.

2025 NFL MOCK DRAFT - 2/11/25

The Super Bowl is over. Congratulations to The Eagles and all their fans! Sadly it was hard to watch such a straight beating , and while I picked the Eagles to win I was expecting a much closer & exciting game. Now we know the final 2 draft slots for certain.  Draft season is in full swing , and liars season is ramping up because with tons of BS from team decision makers , agents , and their media allies has already flooded the news.  With the season complete everything in the NFL world is focused on free agency , and the draft. I am about three fourths of the way done with my full team write-ups while grinding through more tape.   Currently I have broken down the film on one game for 321 players.  Plus I have done 3 games on 193 players , but only 5 or more games on 101. Pretty soon some unheralded players will blow up the combine , and private workouts , and we will all be doing a deeper dive on them. Keep in mind that we have only have a partial idea of what teams will need at that on draft day because of injuries, free agency, retirements , the cap, suspensions , trades , etcetera. Another significant difference between this draft , and other recent ones ,  is that everybody currently still has their own number one pick.  That probably means 1 or 2 will happen in 2025 for a QB , but I wouldn't trade up into ( or draft ) any of them in the top 10. To me it's a weird draft so far with very few high ceiling guys that also have a high floor. Plus the deepest positions I now see as far as good potential starters on the first 2 days of the draft are RB , edge rusher , and TE.  With the exception of edge rusher , which is a premium position , the other 2 positions  have been undervalued most by the NFL. In fact I expect edge to have both the most 1rst round picks , and top 50 selections in this draft for any position, .Although CB & DT have decent strength early , although DT seems to have too many high ceiling boom or bust prospects who's production doesn't match their talent. Enjoy.

2025 NFL MOCK DRAFT - 2/4/25

The Senior bowl has come & gone , and I have a lot of new tape to grind through , but players have both risen & fell during the week.  The Super Bowl , is next  , and that will settle the final 2 draft slots.  That means it's full on draft season , and also liars season because we already hearing tons of BS from team decision makers , agents , and their media allies.  I am about two thirds of the way done with my full team write-ups while grinding through the tape.  It also means that I will be including trades in my mocks from now on. I still haven't done enough work on a lot of these guys, and with so many more players wisely staying in school these days I don't watch as many players as I used to during the season.  We also have the full list of the players entering the draft , and right now I am going through the the 2024 of Shrine & Senior Bowl players , but now that we definitively know who's in & out we all have to start watching more tape faster.  While I have watched all of these players actually play  , that is not the same as breaking down the film on them. Currently I have broken down the film on one game for 321 players.  Plus I have done 3 games on 170 players , but only 5 or more games on 91. Throw in the guys who are draft eligible sophomores that I didn't expect to even contemplate going Pro so early, or that haven't played much yet so they weren't on my radar yet , some of the small school guys , and you get the picture. Then chime in with the fact we have only have a partial idea of what teams will need at that time because of injuries, free agency, retirements , the cap, suspensions , trades , and who knows what else could happen ? Plus the transfer portal & NIL money has drastically changed the face of college football ,  and more guys are wisely staying in school , although that means the lower rounds of the draft will usually have less talent these days.  On the bright side more players who enter the league should be better prepared than in the past , and also have a degree if they don't stick in the NFL. .  Another significant difference between this draft , and other recent ones ,  is that everybody currently still has their own number one pick. I was expecting at least one ( Vikings) , and maybe even 2 ( Giants) , teams to trade away a 2025 first rounder for a QB in the 2024 draft, but it didn't happen. That probably means 1 or 2 will happen in 2025 for a QB , but we are way too far out to judge that yet. Based off of 2023 tape none of the QB's look like 1rst rounders , although I am not over half way through the 2024 film of most of the big QB names. However , even though I am currently in the midst of doing that deeper dive on 2024 eligible QB's I still haven't had any QB revelations yet , and there is no way I would pay a big price to move up for one. So many players disappoint on tape, go back to school, get injuries, get in trouble , surprise in workouts & All Star games , and others come out of the woodwork.  So you can see we still have a lot of work to do on these players. To me it's a weird draft so far with very few high ceiling guys that also have a high floor. Plus the deepest positions I now see as far as good potential starters on the first 2 days of the draft are RB , edge rusher , Safety , and TE.  With the exception of edge rusher , which is a premium position , the other 3 positions  have been undervalued most by the NFL. Although CB & DT have decent strength early , but corner has more legit 1rst rounders of the latter so far , as DT seems to have too many high ceiling boom or bust prospects . The picks are all mine, and so is the remaining playoff order if you want to be mad at someone.  A lot of trades will probably happen, but I expect it to happen more on day 2. Without further ado here it is. Agreeing or disagreeing is welcome, but please do it intelligently & respectfully or I just won't post it. so here it is. Enjoy.
