2019 SENIOR BOWL RISERS & FALLERS

This years Senior Bowl had a pretty deep talent pool . Somewhere between 4 and 8 of the players from this week's game will probably come off the board in the first round , and it was much deeper in potential 2nd and 3rd rounders . There was a lot to offer at every position but running back, as only Dexter Williams looks like a possible top 100 pick there . I am not going to give you a stock up or down on every player, because not only would it take a ton of time ,very few people would take the time to read it all . However, I will tell you the people who definitely hurt or helped themselves in my opinion . Most players stayed about even though, but at least there were a lot more guys who went up instead of down . Also, THIS IS MY BOARD. That doesn't mean they will go where I say . Just that I think their value has changed to a different level after this week . Feel free to comment, but please keep it civil and avoid cursing or I just won't post it . Thanks

RISERS

1.MONTEZ SWEAT - DE - MISS. ST.
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - SIMEON RICE - retired
It might seem odd to put one of the top players coming into the game here , but he showed up and showed out ! I thought he was a late first / early 2nd rounder coming into this week, but he is not only a lock for the first round right now, he might go top 15 after this week's performance .

2.NASSIR ADDERLY - S - DELAWARE
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - DEVIN McCOURTY - PATRIOTS
I saw him as more of  second rounder coming in , but after this week he seems a definite first rounder, and may even be the top safety on some teams boards .

3.CHARLES OMENIHU - DE/DT - TEXAS
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - DAVID IRVING - COWBOYS
This is a guy who's stock went up at the weigh in, and it just kept going north from there . He looks like a tall lean long armed guy on tape, but 36 and a half inch arms is a whole new level of length . A guy with this kind of frame, length , and versatility will be on everyone's board. Off his tape I thought him a late 2nd rounder, but after this week I think he's on the bubble of the first round .

4.CHRIS LINDSTROM - G - B.C.
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - LARRY WARFORD - SAINTS
The offensive lineman are at a definite disadvantage in pass blocking one on ones here. There is too much space without the other players around you blocking too, and after a up & down day one Lindstrom barely seemed to notice . I had just finished his tape this week anyway , and on film you see a lot of run blocking from him, and while he was solid in pass pro his best asset there was awareness in my opinion . Here it was just man up and he was the best guard on either team . Went from a late 2nd second rounder to a first round bubble guy for me after this week .

5.ROCK YA-SIN - CB - TEMPLE
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - XAVIEN HOWARD - DOLPHINS
Every year some guy I haven't heard of yet has a big week at the Senior Bowl , and Rock was that guy for me this time . Daniel Jeremiah said on the broadcast he was already in his top 50 before they stepped onto the field so I was just late to this party . He had a great day one and that night I started watching his tape, and I wasn't disappointed . Ya- Sin is a decent sized physical corner , but he only has one year of tape at Temple . He has great instincts, timing, stop/start quickness , and awareness to turn & find the ball. He's a first round bubble guy for me now as well

6.LJ COLLIER - DT/DE - TCU
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - TYRONE CRAWFORD - COWBOYS
I liked his tape and had a 3rd rounder on him coming in even though he was mostly a 5 technique that had some 2 gapping & read and react responsibilities in the TCU defense that kept him from regularly showing off his explosiveness up field. Not anymore . He was explosive and dominant inside in Mobile. Using speed and power to wreck centers and guards . Uses his hands very well whether it's inside placement or to get a blocker off him .
I moved him up to the 2nd round on my board.

7.CHUMA EDOGA - OT - USC
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - KELVIN BEACHUM - JETS
Edoga is a bit on the small side for an OT, but his arms were confirmed to be long enough at the weigh in , and his feet were always good enough to stay outside. He has played both sides although his tape was better on the right side in 2017 , and he has the athleticism to excel when pulling or going to the second level . He gets his hands on the defender quickly in pass pro, plays with good knee bend , and is adept at riding speed rushers past the pocket, but he needs a more violent punch . Went from the 3rd to the 2nd round in my book  , which is kind of odd because he did lose his fair share of reps , but he won more impressively. I think all he needs is some time in the weight room and a slightly more aggressive & well timed punch and he could be a above average starter very early in his career .

8. ** -DEEBO SAMUEL - WR - S. CAROLINA
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - GOLDEN TATE - EAGLES
He's basically the focus of the entire offense for the gamecocks .  Catching, running, returning, and even throwing it now and again. A versatile guy ,and I liked him in the 3rd before this week as a do it all power slot, but I did question his quickness & separation some . I also thought he was a slot only guy as a receiver, but I now think he can play outside some as well  . He had the balls to come and compete here too and I now see him as a 2nd rounder .

9.PENNY HART - WR - GEORGIA ST.
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - JOHN BROWN - RAVENS
Coming into this week I saw him as a smallish slot type and return guy as a 5th rounder, but he may go in the third now . His lower level of competition was definitely part of my evaluation because he was always open on tape, and that's not hard to do when your real fast & quick and your playing against a lot of guys who will be dentist & insurance salesman when college is over . Plus players this small almost always have a much smaller catch radius, and that means you need a very tall QB so he can see you over the line right off the snap ,and a very accurate thrower as well so he can get it in your smaller area where you can catch it  . In Hart's case he alleviated one of my fears about level of comp because he was almost always open against a higher level of players here . He also created so much separation that even a QB with average accuracy should be able to find him pretty quickly . He caught the ball well too after having a lot of drops on tape, but it's also easier to catch a ball when you know no ones going to hit right away .Before this week my comp for him was Taylor Gabriel and now it's John Brown . That's a level up in my book and puts him in my 3rd round possibilities  .

10.KINGSLEY KEKE - DT/DE - TEXAS A&M
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON -MICHAEL BENNETT - EAGLES
At the weigh in he showed up lighter than I thought he would be, but also had longer arms than I had expected . He looked quicker and more explosive on the field as well with great snap anticipation .Showed a advanced pass rushing strategy & counters with good violent hand use, and he didn't lose any of his power with the weight loss . Dominated interior blockers and did well outside too . Went from the 4th to a 3rd for me and I now think 3 technique is his best position in the pro's  .

FALLERS

1.DEANDRE BAKER - CB - GEORGIA
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - CHRIS HARRIS - BRONCOS
I know he's not here, but that's the problem . I love this guy's tape despite his lack of size or instincts on when to turn and find the ball, but not everyone agrees . I had him as a mid first rounder, but when people that are plugged in are doubting you and you throw away a chance to prove them wrong you make me doubt you too .Your not Josh Allen! You didn't answer every doubt about you during the season , and no one is talking about you going in the top 10 like him . Out of the 4 guys who didn't use injury as a reason of pulling out of the Senior Bowl he was the only one that I thought could have really risen based on how he played this week.

2.ZACH ALLEN - DE/DT - BOSTON COLLEGE
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - GREG HARDY - retired
He's all power and you see that bull rush all the time on tape, but dude when you have that much open space in one on ones and you still don't try to go around someone when your bull rush is stopped your just being dense . Get a plan and add some counters . He was going balls put, and I wouldn't say he had a bad week, but that lack of creativity makes him a one trick pony and hurts him in my eyes .Went from 2nd round down to the 3rd on my board .

3.MICHAEL DIETER - C/G - WISCONSIN
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - MATT SLAUSON - COLTS -
His tape inside says 3rd round, but when you factor in that he has played all 5 positions ( and he could have theoretically kicked outside in a pinch ) I though he might go late 2nd. Then he had really short arms at the Senior Bowl weigh in . That means inside for sure and only a scary emergency OT, but his short arms got exploited all week and he got killed in  1 vs 1 . I know offensive lineman are at a huge disadvantage there . When know one else is blocking and the rusher has the whole field to maneuver it puts you in a hole, and when the defense knows it's definitely a pass they can just pin their ears back and not even worry about the run, but he was really bad  . I almost thought some rando stole his jersey and went out to practice , until he rallied a little on Thursday , but the damage is done for me. He played better in team where the defender doesn't have so much space, but I think he's a late 3rd at best /probable 4th rounder now, and that center is probably his best position . This is that rare case of a guy going to the Senior Bowl and really losing value .

4.WILL GRIER - QB - W. VIRGINIA
NFL PLAYER COMPARISON - ANDY DALTON - BENGALS
Coming into the week he was my number 2 QB , but he did not play well this week . Whether it was adjusting to being under center or a whole new system with actual reads he looked tentative and slow . His arm even looked weaker, and his usual accuracy was off , but that may just be a result of the tentativeness . Usually when you are a air raid QB entering the draft your agent hooks you up with a mentor as soon as your season ends, and that way you look at least somewhat prepared and comfortable when you go to a place like the Senior Bowl where you know you are going to be a fish out of water if your unprepared . Well he skipped his bowl game with the claim of ankle injury, and he still looked unprepared and confused . Maybe the tutor who has been working with him changed his mechanics and that's why his mechanics looked so off . If your thinking about your mechanics , or counting the steps on your drops instead of reading the defense you will look bad .  Despite all these possible plausible reasons I was very disappointed in him. Went from a first round bubble guy to a third rounder in my book . I'm not out on him though . I still like his tape . Learning  NFL systems is good, and polishing your mechanics is good , but changing your mechanics this late in the game is a mistake . "IF" that is what he is doing . As of now I will just hope that learning the Pro game is taking a while and that he will get it eventually . Remember how long it took Jared Goff just to adjust to taking  snaps under center. When you have been doing something one way for 10-15 years changing it is not a 2 or 3 month process . It's a 2 or 3 year process until it becomes natural.
