Jernigan ...Thanks for pointing out the Gross gaffe. Jernigan would be worth the 7th pick a lot more than Ealy, but its way too high for either in my opinion .if you trade back into the 20's Ealy does makes sense though. Konys versatility would really fit in with what your pass rush needs to return to form . With Henry Melton & Jason Hatcher being DT free agents , former buck DE Michael Bennett on the market, and the bucs having enough cap space to make a splash I could easily see them filling those holes in free agency . Mosley is so rare a player that I doubt he makes it out of the top 11 though so you couldn't trade back very far and still get him . New Viking coach Mike Zimmer runs a lot of Tampa 2, and he just cut last year middle linebacker, so you may have to stay ahead of the vikes to take him .If Minnesota doesn't trade up for one of the top 3 QB's they are now my new favorite to take CJ . I'll toy around with these ideas for my Monday mock . I don't like Jenkins laziness on tape. Niklas is already a better blocker and has shown better hands, With a little coaching he could be elite soon. Jenkins can be if he wants to but he also may get paid and just get by for awhile too.
Alpha1https://www.blogger.com/profile/11248148103063740509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3426433214166700504.post-76760588994618686542014-02-08T10:59:50.131-05:002014-02-08T10:59:50.131-05:00I bet you wouldn't be the only niner fan about...I bet you wouldn't be the only niner fan about to jump through the roof in that situation. As for Carr he looks panicked too often for me. Poise is essential to a QB above all. Their is a reason Joe Montana and Tom Brady are the 2 greatest QB's in my opinion . If given a decent chance they rise to the occasion. Others can't handle the pressure. Carr looks panicky and his mechanics break down most of the time he is in trouble. Bortles is raw with great physical tools & intangibles so I can see why a team thinks they can mold him into a winner , but I still wouldn't take him in the top 10. Bridgewater and Manziel make big plays under pressure and both will hang in and take a punch in the mouth to deliver the ball in crunch time. Carr's happy feet in similar situations are a warning flag to me. What surprised me the most about Garoppolo is the more I watched him the more I was impressed with his poise. He still needs the tutelage of a great QB coach but I could see him being a legit franchise QB pretty soon in the right situation . Carr is 20/40/40 boom/bust/average starter who never gets you anywhere serious for me .I am not saying Carr is a scaredy cat like Blaine Gabbert but I don't trust him. In football we practice so much so that when things are moving so quick our bodies will just react and do the right thing . A guy thinking in that situation will usually screw the pooch. Second being a Bucs fan I really do not want to see them get Mack not saying he is not a stud, but I think they have bigger holes than a blitzing backer. If they stay there do you think that pairing Jernigan with McCoy, or adding a true 4-3 DE like Ealy would be a good option? If they trade what about trading back with the Titans or Giants they both could use Barr or Mack and if they trade back get Mosley who could be Lovie's "Urlacher"? Or even adding the TE they so need of Ebron? If they would happen to go after the TE they need you think Niklas is a better option than ASJ?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3426433214166700504.post-38997382526835819662014-02-07T11:37:57.800-05:002014-02-07T11:37:57.800-05:00If Watkins was on the board at 10 and the commissi...If Watkins was on the board at 10 and the commissioner announced a trade, my heart would be in my throat. Unrealistic or not I love that you would propose it. CB in the second, safety in the third and the 49ers would still have a comp third (presumably) to fill another need (OL/QB?). I see you have dropped Carr back into the second behind Garoppolo....you must have some fairly big concerns?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11787098346253120612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3426433214166700504.post-77830079619243460032014-02-07T00:26:09.635-05:002014-02-07T00:26:09.635-05:00If you have a better alternative you should state ...If you have a better alternative you should state it. In 2012 the redskins wildly overpaid to move up to #2 and take RG3 if you go by the commonly used chart, but QB's in demand are usually outside the norm. The chargers paid a similarly large package to go up and get Ryan Leaf in 1998 . If you are referring to the trade chart created by Jimmy Johnson found here http://www.gbnreport.com/tradevaluetable.html then you should realize not everyone uses it all the time . It all depends who is being moved up for, if their is competition for the pick , and how badly a team wants to move up or down . The chart says the 3rd pick the raiders traded to the fins last year is worth 2200 points . The 12th and 42nd picks they got for it was worth a combined 1690 points . The raiders were reportedly desperate to move back though, and took less for the pick. Next the rams really wanted to jump ahead of the Jets at #9 because most people expected the Jets to take Tavon Austin there. I actually had both trades in my final mock draft but the values off because I used the chart. The Dolphins paid a lot less but the rams paid slightly(1653 points for a pick worth 1635) more. The 49ers owned Dallas if you go by the chart, but that's what happens when you try to desperately move back at the last minute . Dallas got 820 points for their 900 point pick . While the niners had a low 2nd rounder that would have given really close to equal value but they refused to part with it. Dallas did the deal anyway . Then the Vikings overpaid to move back into the first round a third time to take Patterson. So it is all situational. I think the Lions really might want to move back and may take a little less to do so . The 49ers have a ton of picks and a talented roster with few openings. They will probably try to move up at least once in the draft . Since the niners have shown a willingness to shop around and see who will take less for their pick I think they will find a better deal than some other teams might . I suspect the Lions need to move back more than the Giants or Bills . Therefore I believe they will take a little less than their pick is worth to do so. Anyway, if you have a better idea please feel free to share it .Alpha1https://www.blogger.com/profile/11248148103063740509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3426433214166700504.post-18632942991323510632014-02-06T23:37:38.087-05:002014-02-06T23:37:38.087-05:00Thanks for the intelligent response. I was trying to find a possible trade partner for them in this mock but it just didn't fit this time. I will try out a plausible scenario next time though. Tight End is not the biggest need at all like you say. If the Giants were to miss out on all the top OT's and not even get a LB (which they probably wouldn't take to begin with based on Reese) that isn't a great situation for NY. I could see them trading back and maybe picking up a player like Ealy who has the potential but might not be worth a top 15 pick.

Interesting scenario with Watkins going to SF...Kap/Watkins would be a stellar combination for years to come.

-Great draft, love your insight - You do a lot of research and it shows.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
